Emergency Closing InformationWeather Cancellation Phone Number: 860-626-6808
Inclement Weather InformationOn any day that severe weather threatens, campus administrators will monitor the forecast as well as the actual conditions in order to determine if it is necessary to cancel classes. As soon as a decision has been made to cancel classes, the announcement will be recorded on the Torrington Campus Snow Line - 860-626-6808. Students, faculty and staff can call this number at any time to hear a recorded message regarding the status of classes. The Snow Line is the first place that we report a decision to cancel classes. If you do not hear a message advising of cancelled classes, please do not call the Business Office. Business Office staff have no control over the decision to cancel classes and will advise you to check the Snow Line. If the determination to cancel classes is made in the middle of the day, the Business Office staff will do their best to call all faculty affected by the decision, as time and weather permits. Students should call the Snow Line or check the media announcements. Two of the media outlets we report to have added features that allow you to sign up to receive an email or text message as soon as information for your organization is posted. The NBC 30 website allows you to subscribe to an automatic email that will be sent as soon as the organization enters their information. For more information about this service please visit www.nbc30.com. News Channel 8 and MYTV 9 offer a service that will send a text message to your mobile phone. (Depending on your mobile service provider and service plan you may incur charges for receiving a text message). For complete details about this service, please visit www.wtnh.com. Please note that the University of Connecticut and the UCONN Torrington Campus have no control over these optional services. The most up-to-date, correct, and detailed weather information for the Torrington Campus will be recorded on the Snow Line. |
