Biography
Nan Taylor holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. While a graduate student she served on the faculty as an Assistant in the Phoebe Anna Thorne Laboratory Preschool where she was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship for two years. Her master’s thesis explored the use of alternative assessments in moral reasoning and her doctoral dissertation involved the use of a computerized evaluation of selective and sustained attention among preschoolers with developmental disabilities. Her academic work focused on both normal and developmentally delayed children in a variety of educational and clinical settings. Her postgraduate clinical year involved work with abused and neglected children, family violence, and the courts.
Professionally, Nan Taylor has worked as a school administrator, consultant to international educational groups in Wales and Japan, a group leader for the Advanced Placement Tests of the Educational Testing Service (College Board), and has provided data for test development with the Psychological Corporation and the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) Center at Yale University. She has taught at the undergraduate level at University of Connecticut’s Torrington campus since 1989. At the graduate level, she has taught at Washington University and Pace University.
